JAZZ IN THE GARDENS

[su_dropcap style=”flat”]M[/su_dropcap]iami Gardens, FL – The 9th Annual Jazz in the Gardens music festival took place this past weekend, where more than 50,000 patrons packed into Sun Life Stadium to relish in the sounds of some of the most talented and acclaimed Jazz, R&B, and Hip-Hop musicians around. The festivities kicked off on Friday evening at the Calder Casino & Race track where Hip-Hop legend Doug E. Fresh graced the stage with a rendition of some his classic hits like “The Show” and “La di da di”. The opening party was a lot of fun but it was also just a mere drop in the bucket for what would follow.Saturday night’s show was the high point of the weekend in my opinion, with performances by Jazz icon Boney James, R&B Group Mint Condition, Captivating Songstress Kelly Rowland, Heartthrob Trey Songz and the Triple Threat, Jamie Fox.Boney James kicked off the show with a selection of his hits including the chart toppers “Bleaker Street” & “Butter”.

[su_dropcap style=”flat”]M[/su_dropcap]int Condition had the female supporters swooning over their classic material like “Pretty Brown Eyes”, “Breaking My Heart” and “Send me Swinging”. Demonstrating that the Minneapolis boys still know how to put on a show . Sun Life Stadium began to swelter even more when the feet of one Kelly Rowland hit the stage. Kelly got the ladies up on their feet with performances of songs from her days with Destiny’s Child and surprised fans by bringing out all star rapper Nelly to perform the hip hop love anthem “Dilemma”. R&B Crooner and rising sex symbol Trey Songz executed a flawless performance making women ranging from adolescent to senior “hazy” over his sultry vocals, killer smile and shirtless physique.

[su_dropcap style=”flat”]J[/su_dropcap]amie Fox closed Saturday night’s show charming spectators with his comedic and musical talents on stage. Highlighting his set was a hilarious moment where Jamie got a voluntary twerk session from a rather voluptuous woman. Not only did Jamie bring the comedy, he paid homage to Rhythm and Blues & Rap with impromptu performances from singer Tank and human beat boxer Doug E. FreshSunday hosted a slew of performers from various genres and generational eras. Jazz greats Stanley Clarke and Rachelle Ferrell graced the stage with their smooth and mellow melodies giving onlookers a musically vibrant showcase.

[su_dropcap style=”flat”]T[/su_dropcap]he mood began to rise as singer songwriter Anthony Hamilton performed his hit and even covered some classic soul oldies. Bringing something for the Hip Hop Heads, LL Cool J proved why “Ladies Love Cool James”. Obliging the female fantasy LL handed out roses and gave personal hugs to 20 women from the audience, leaving them all short of breath while in his presence. The Closers, Maze ft. Frankie Beverly had the entire stadium rocking for over an hour and half, with hits like “Before I Let Go”, “You” and “Joy & Pain” there was not still body to be found. The festival proved to be a triumph and for this first timer it was a weekend to remember!! Check out my video of highlight from Saturday’ night’s performances.
