DR. STEVE GALLON, III AND BACARDI JACKSON, ESQ TO SPEAK AT 7TH ANNUAL REV. DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY SYMPOSIUM

The Women Involved in Service to Humanity Foundation, Incorporated (W.I.S.H. Foundation) in Partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter presents the 7th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Symposium “A Conversation on Race” on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

America’s Sunday Suppers – inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr.’s vision of people from diverse backgrounds interacting on personal levels – encourage people to share a meal and discuss issues that affect them and their communities.

For the past seven years, the W.I.S.H. Foundation and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter has chosen discussion topics pertinent to what the youth of the community were experiencing. Through the years we have focused on combating bullying, working cooperatively with the police, and to honoring our past, present, and future leaders. In keeping with the turmoil of our country, this year we have chosen to have A Conversation on Race.

Dr. Steve Gallon, III – Miami-Dade County School Board Member, District 1, will have a conversation with parents about  the importance of  being involved in all aspects of their  child’s education.

Mrs. Terolyn Hunter Fields, Author, will review contents of her recently published book,  “Power-Packed Parenting: The Perfect Guide to Successful Parenting”

Bacardi Jackson, Esq. Tucker Law Group, will be providing closing remarks.

There will be several workshops highlighting prevalent racial concerns in the United States today that will surely lead to a heated discussion such as (and more):

Black Lives Matter: Mission or Myth – Deconstructing the Protest

Race and Childhood Innocence (When does race become an issue for children) Primarily for Elementary Students

Ain’t I a Woman (A look at racial sexual stereotyping and the protection of black women)

This Free event will take place on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at the Universal Truth Center for Better Living located at 21310 N.W. 37th Avenue, Miami Gardens, Florida.
