ALL ABOUT SKIN

[su_dropcap style=”flat”]O[/su_dropcap]ur skin which is the largest organ of the human body needs care just like our other organs. Satisfaction of the skin’s needs may be attained with good nutrition, good DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) and with the help of a basic skincare regimen. We are constantly exposed to atmospheric pollutants (free radicals) that can cause our skin to age pre- maturely, the blocking of our pores or even cause minor breakouts at times if we do not cleanse properly. A basic daily regimen may be the utilization of a cleanser, toner (astringent) and moisturizer along with a sunscreen to maintain clean, hydrated and protected skin. We are born with a skin type that is either (dry, normal, sensitive, combination or oily) It is therefore important to know your skin type to ensure that you purchase the correct products so as to receive the ultimate benefit.

[su_dropcap style=”flat”]A[/su_dropcap]s we become more intimate with our skin and skin type, we will be aware of the difference in the texture of our skin during the Summer, Fall and Winter months which is due to the variance in climatic temperatures, heat versus cold. During the summertime our skin will usually have more moisture to the touch, so moisturizers need to be of a lighter consistency. During the winter a heavier consistency as the skin loses moisture and is drier to the touch. (Basically the way we would dress for these two seasons).

[su_dropcap style=”flat”]A[/su_dropcap]nother main factor is that dead skin is constantly shedding and needs the aid of an exfoliation (scrub) to remove the dead skin cells off the surface (epidermis)to reveal healthy radiant looking skin, ( ever wonder why your skin looks so ashy; it’s all those dead skin cells lying on its surface ). Your skin sheds anywhere from 28 – 45 days. The younger you are the faster the turn-over of skin cells, and the more mature the skin the slower the turn-over… That is why more mature skin tend to require a bit more moisturizing than that of younger folks………. So until next time, love the skin you’re in!
